HOW TO INSTALL A PROJECTOR AT HOME?
A projector is also a home appliance. It is part of our life and should be arranged according to our own lifestyle and our own needs. Many articles have been detailed in the installation and debugging of the projector. Although when you buy a projector in general, there will be a special technician to come over for installation and debugging. But, what we should consider is, in the final analysis, our own needs. What should I expect to display, how to set up, what state I want to be in when viewing. Coupled with common sense on installation and preparations before installation, you can wait for the product delivery to your home with ease.
How to install wires
As for installing wires, you can install either visible wires or invisible wires. Installing visible wires is to expose the wires outside. Although it is a bit messy, it is easy to install and suitable for friends who have already finished refined decoration.
Installing invisible wires is to slot the wall and hide the wires inside the wall or the ground. Therefore, installing invisible wires is to be grounded, suitable for friends who are still in the decoration stage. Therefore, it is safer and more beautiful if you have left circuits for the projector ahead of schedule. There are four circuits to be considered: one power supply, two HDMI cables, and one audio cable, which correspond to the input and output of the projector.
Input
Two HDMI cables are used to connect to the media source. The reason why there are two cables is to meet everyone’s needs. For example, I will connect one to laptop to watch movies, and then connect the other one to a PlayStation to play games. My initial focus on the projector is because of a video I watched that a blog owner had played “black soul” using a projector!
If the projector is planned to be installed during the decoration, you’d better bury the cables to make it invisible. After all, the equipment is sure to be connected to the machine. If you install visible wires, the power source and projector can only be placed nearby, while it can be more flexible if you install invisible wires
If it is too late to install invisible wires, it doesn’t matter if you have to install visible wires. However, to install visible wires should consider the distance from the projector, and the limitation on the position is relatively large. Nevertheless, even if the wire is long enough, you can’t let the wire rotate around the room for half a cycle. Imagine a picture of a laptop hanging from the top of the head by a wire. Well, it is indeed kind of weird. Of course, there are various ways to connect wirelessly, but it may affect the picture quality, and the signal is unstable sometimes.
Output
An audio cable is used to connect an audio or audio amplifier. It can be connected to the projector or audio resource. Oh well, those who plan to use the projector inside system audio do not need to consider it. For those who want a home theater effect level, it is generally recommended to set up a hybrid audio system. At this time, you must first connect the audio amplifier and then connect to the hybrid speaker.
The wires that connect to the projector and the amplifier can be installed to be invisible so that the position of the amplifier is more flexible. If you think that connect to the projector is not very convenient, for example, the projector is hoisted, and then it can be connected to the media source. Normally, the media source and the speaker are often placed together on the side of the screen, that it is close to each other. The wires connect the amplifier and the audio equipment can be installed to be visible. And generally, wires are not very long, it is better to let them be closer.
How many sockets to be reserved
To install a projector at home, usually, four outlets are reserved. One is next to the projector, one for the screen, one for source and audio amplifier. The principle, of course, it is as close as possible from the socket to the machine. The socket next to the screen is usually on the top as well. If the projector is hoisted, there should be two sockets reserved on the top.
If you have installed invisible wires, the media source and amplifier can be placed on the side of the screen and the sockets could be reserved on the wall of the screen. If the wires are visible, then reserve the position in advance and reserve the socket on the side of the projector on the nearest wall. Anyway, if it is really impossible to get them close, connecting the power strip will be the only choice. When choosing a socket, it is better to pick one with a power switch. Because the connection position is usually not very easy to reach. It is convenient with a switch to avoid plugging or plucking if it is not been used for a long time.
How to install the projector
There are four types of installing, including front projection installation, rear projection installation, side projection installation, and ceiling projection installation. Among them, the rear projection installation takes up larger space, thus commonly home projector is not installed this way, so this will not be discussed in this article. Let’s move to the other three types.
Front projection
The front projection is that the projector and the viewer are on the same side, and the lens is placed facing at the screen. There are many positions to choose from for front projection. A common installation location is that a partition protrudes from the wall directly opposite the screen, where the projector can be placed but also connect playback devices.
If space is relativity spacious, you can also add a high cabinet behind the viewing sofa. The projector is placed in the upper-middle cabinet and other places can be used for storage.
The advantages of the front projection installation are obvious. It is not necessary to bury the wires, and the connection between the media source and the audio equipment is more flexible. However, since it is not fixed, it is easy to encounter in daily operations, and it may be necessary to adjust the projection position from time to time.
Side projection installation
Side projection installation is an emerging installation method. Only specific projectors can get a normal picture by adjusting the horizontal trapezoidal correction when it is not facing the screen.
In this way, the position of the projector could be more casual, even if no space is reserved for placing the projector before, or the room area is limited, the corners can also be used for projection. However, such side-projection still does some damage to the picture quality, and the projector with the side projection function is often more expensive. So, please consider the advantages and disadvantages before making decisions.
Ceiling projection installation
The ceiling projection installation can be used for front projection or rear projection. As the name implies, it is a projection method of hanging the projector on the roof. Therefore, just place the projector on the roof facing the front to the screen. When installing, pay attention to whether the chandelier has been installed in the room or not, otherwise, the hanging chandelier could block the output light and left a shadow on the screen.
ABOUT SCREEN
Fixed frame screen
The fixed frame screen is mounted on the wall as a whole. It will not be able to fold it away. This method was applied in the classroom when I was in high school. It coordinates with pushing the blackboard, and I felt it particularly advanced. Therefore, installing a picture frame screen requires occupying the whole wall. In order to get the best viewing, please pick the largest wall in the house under the circumstance of meeting the viewing distance.
Electric Screen
The electric screen is retractable and mounted on the roof for free height adjustment. It should be noted that the electric screen cannot be close to the wall, and at least 100mm of heat dissipation space should be guaranteed.
Customized black edge screen helps to adjust the height of the screen.
If the wall is not wide enough, install a screen over the aisle. It can still be passed through Put it down when watching the movie and folding it away when not using it. The wall with the window is extremely suitable for installing the screen as it absolute backlight and saving space.
However, such an installation method is more common in the United States because they are used to putting the sofa facing the Window. The layout in other countries’ homes is to put the sofa in front of the wall. However, I believed for small-sized houses, this is really space-saving. You can simply put the sofa facing to the window or match it with a single-seat sofa that can be moved easily.
Screen height
The height of the screen is based on the height of sight when the viewer is watching. Whether sitting or lying down, watch ahead at horizontal vision level, and then slightly raise your head, a bit like the angle of standing like military training soldiers, finally the point of focus is the center of the screen. After clarifying the height of the center, it is possible to specifically determine how high the screen needs to be from the ground according to the height of the room and the height of the screen.
If the screen length is not long enough, you should contact the manufacturer when you purchase the screen and customize the length of the black border above the screen to make the center of the screen coincide with the focus of sight.
Viewing distance
The optimal viewing distance is determined by the size of the screen. The principle is similar to choosing a seat in a movie theater, the most comfortable distance should be the center position, regardless of height. How far is this position from the screen? The answer is 0.87 times the width of the screen. That is after we have decided the size of the screen, we multiply the width of the screen by 0.87, that is the best distance for our viewing. For a 120-inch 16:9 screen with a width of about 2635mm for an example, the sofa should be 2291mm from the screen, that is to say, 2.3 meters is the most suitable.
Projection distance
The distance between the projector and the screen is determined by the projector’s screening size. The parameters of each model are different, but in general, the larger the screen, the farther the projector is from the screen. When installing the projector, you could figure out how far it will be suitable by make comparison according to the size of your own screen.
Screen size and projection distance table(4:3 Ratio)
This is a projector parameter table that is looked for casually, and you’d better consider your own model requirements.
This is just a brief introduction. I hope that you can imagine the audio-visual area in your own heart after reading it. When it comes to installation, it could be okay that you have the consciousness of layout and know on which wall and in which room to install it. Because installing a projector requires professional knowledge, if you are not very professional or have a special DIY spirit, it is recommended that you only provide ideas and give the responsibility on specific installation affairs to the technical staff from the shop.
