Wifi connection now seems an indispensable function for projectors, but is this function working as it’s expected? Wifi projectors, or we say wireless projectors help remove the hassle of cables. Especially for mini projectors, this functionality provides more flexibility. If it’s for a business demonstration, presenters can place the portable projector anywhere without cables and control the audio-visual portion of the presentation from another mobile device. There are several types regarding wireless connection. Some technologies use wireless display chips or a USB dongle to communicate with a presentation device. As a matter of fact, it is not wireless connection in a real sense since a receiver is needed to connect to a projector. The most common wireless connection option is using an established WIFI network. The principle is get the projector and your device connected to the same WIFI through a wireless access point or router. The projector would automatically search the Wi-Fi network for machines it recognizes, allows you to create a link between the devices. The data sent to the projector travels through network routers and switches to reach the projector.While this WIFI connection seems to be the most convenient, the dilemma is that it tends to be easily affected by the WIFI network. If there’s network latency, the connection would be interrupted. Imagine you’re in a critical moment of gaming, suddenly a circling arrow icon shows up and says loading, it is going to be a disaster. The smoothness of video display depends on the speed of your WIFI network as well.
It is important that WIFI projectors support both 2.4G and 5G bands. Unlike “3G” and “4G” in the mobile phone world, the “2.4G” and “5G” numbers in Wi-Fi network are radio frequency bands. 2.4G is short for the 2.4GHz band, and 5G is short for the 5GHz band (roughly 5.1 to 5.8 GHz). In a nutshell, the 2.4GHz band gives you longer range, whereas the 5GHz band offers more channels that are less likely to be polluted with interference.

The current situation is that with the increasing number of home smart devices, and they are all gathered in the 2.4GWIFI band, the network congestion is becoming more and more obvious. It is recommended that buyers choose a projector support both 2.4GWIFI module and 5GWIFI module.
